Good research often begins with a question. Getting from that question to fieldwork in another country requires a few more pieces to fall into place.
In this context, we are pleased to support Trym Rødvik, PhD Research Fellow at the Centre for global sustainability (UiO), #ncimember Universitetet i Oslo (UiO) | University of Oslo, during his current research stay in India. Through NCI, Trym is affiliated with the #ncipartner University of Hyderabad while carrying out fieldwork in Telangana.
Trym studies processes of change in agricultural industries. His current research focuses on the poultry sector in Telangana, examining how new technologies are adopted and spread, and what those changes may mean for disease control and economic development.
When Trym approached NCI with his plans for research in India, our role was to help build the pathway around the research: identifying a suitable academic partner, facilitating his affiliation with the University of Hyderabad, supporting the visa process, and helping with the practical preparations needed for his research stay.
It is one of the things we value most about having a presence in India — being able to help researchers from our Nordic member universities move from a research idea to actually being on the ground, connected to the right academic environment and ready to begin their work.
We are very pleased to see Trym’s research now underway and wish him a stimulating and productive period of fieldwork in Telangana.
