Semester at Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi

NCI has an agreement with Sri Venkateswara College (SVC) of Delhi University that enables Nordic undergraduate member university students to study and spend a full semester in Delhi. The aim of the program is to make it possible for students to pursue sound academic knowledge of India as well as gain experiences of the academic culture and living in India. Students are expected to follow a fulltime academic program of 3 DU courses equivalent to 30 ECTS. The fall semester runs from mid July till early December, and the Spring semester from early January till early May.

SVC is a co-ed constituent college of the University of Delhi in New DelhiIndia. Administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, it is considered as one among the best colleges of the University of Delhi; it awards degrees under the purview of the university and offers courses at the undergraduate level. Vocational courses and short-term add-on courses that serve as significant supplements to the academic profiles of the students are offered.

Students can choose among the regular college courses in different departments. The coordinator at SVC will assist the students in finding the most suitable courses. More information about the college is available here.

Costs

Boarding and Lodging are not arranged via the programme. The student needs to arrange the same by themselves. The school fees also does not include expenses for travels to and from Delhi, visa fees, or medical and travel insurance, for which the students need to pay by themselves.

Application

The application should include the following documents:

A letter providing information about previous university studies, expectations and motivations for attending the program, as well as contact information.
A transcript of university credits and degrees (in English with ECTS)
A letter of recommendation from a supervisor stating the suitability of the student
A proof of English speaking ability, either TOEFEL or equivalent certificate
A CV with complete contact information

The documents should be sent to the International office at your university or directly to NCI, Ms. Christabel Royan (contact@nordiccentreindia.com). The students admitted to the course will be given a letter of admission and visa recommendation letter from SVC, Delhi and can apply for study visa through the Indian embassy in their home country.

Participants are expected to pursue a fulltime academic program, which means a credit load of 30 ECTS spread over 3 regular DU courses. About Sri Venkateswara College

SVC is considered to be one of the best colleges affiliated to Delhi University. Established in 1961 by Smt Durgabai Deshmukh, Dr K.L.Rao and Dr C.Anna Rao under the auspices of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, SVC has grown to a college with around 3888 students on its rolls, offering more than a score of different courses in the Humanities, Commerce and Science disciplines with 231 teaching and non-teaching staff. Apart from the formal academic courses the college now offers 3 Vocational courses and several short-term add-on courses that serve as significant supplements to the academic profiles of the students. The College also offers 11 Postgraduate Courses for study. Accommodation

The semester programme does not include arrangements for boarding and lodging. Students have to take care of the same themselves. The immediate area surrounding the college has residential colonies that offer Paying Guest accommodation options to students. Member university students can find such PG options at Satya Niketan which is at walkable distance from college and in surrounding areas like Moti Bagh, Naraina, Sarojini Nagar, RK Puram that are well connected by public transport. Students can stay at the NCI residence at the beginning of the semester and determine their accommodation for the semester through assistance provided by students and staff at SVC or by checking various options online at 99acres and magicbricks.

The college has a canteen and there are several budget restaurants within walking distance of the college so boarding is not a major challenge. Food can also be ordered online through Zomato, Food Panda, Ubereats, and Swiggy.
