ANRF International Travel Support for Researchers in India

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) offers financial support to eligible Indian researchers travelling abroad to participate in international scientific events through its International Travel Support (ITS) Scheme.

The scheme is open to active Indian researchers engaged in R&D at recognised academic institutions or research laboratories in India. Support is available for participation in international conferences, seminars and symposia where the applicant is presenting an original research paper, chairing a session or delivering a keynote address.

Researchers below the age of 35 may also apply for support to attend eligible workshops, short-term training programmes and schools outside India, for programmes of up to 21 days.

What does the scheme support?

The ITS Scheme provides reimbursement for:

- Economy-class return airfare by the shortest route

- Airport tax

Visa fees

For researchers below 35, registration fees up to ₹50,000 or the actual cost, whichever is lower

Applications must be submitted online 60–90 days before the start of the event. Applicants should also note that support under the scheme cannot normally be availed more than once within a three-year period.

Current application window

As of 26 August 2026, ANRF is accepting applications for events with start dates between 25 October and 24 November 2026, inclusive.

This may be particularly relevant for researchers in India looking to present their work internationally, develop new research networks and strengthen global academic collaborations.
