We are very happy to welcome Nina Besemer, a master’s student at #ncimember Universitetet i Oslo (UiO) | University of Oslo, to #India as she begins the fieldwork for her master’s thesis.
Nina’s research looks at how new cookstove technologies are influencing women’s everyday cooking practices and daily life in Odisha. During her research stay, she is academically affiliated with #ncipartner Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar.
Field research offers something that is difficult to gain from a distance: the opportunity to understand a place through direct engagement, local perspectives and everyday realities. India offers an especially rich setting for this kind of learning, and we are glad that Nina is able to spend time here developing her research on the ground.
NCI has been pleased to support her journey to India by helping identify an appropriate academic partner, facilitating her affiliation, guiding her through the visa process, and assisting with the practical arrangements around her stay in active cooperation with the fantastic Harshit Aggarwal at KIIT.
For us, supporting students in this way is about more than logistics. It is about helping create the conditions for meaningful academic engagement in India.
We wish Nina a thoughtful, rewarding and memorable period of fieldwork, and all the very best as her research develops.
