The Division of Automatic Control at the Department of Electrical Engineering has a vacant post-doctoral position in the area of numerical methods for motion planning and predictive control under uncertainty for autonomous systems. The research aims to develop improved numerical methods for solving challenging belief-space motion planning problems, where the uncertainty in the problem is explicitly considered. In particular, it will investigate how to tightly integrate state-of-the-art sampling-based methods with state-of-the-art methods from numerical optimal control in a theoretically as well as computationally sound way. Additionally, receding horizon variants of this solution strategy will be investigated. The position is financed by the European Office of Aerospace Research and Development (EOARD) and is a full-time research position.
