University Lecturer, Information and Communication Technology

JOB DESCRIPTION : 

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious University Lecturer to the School of Computing at the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology of the University of Eastern Finland. The role will support, for its part, the new Master of Science in Data Engineering education (website), which will start at the University of Eastern Finland in autumn 2026. The data technology education includes training in data science, statistics and software development.

The post of University Lecturer is teaching-oriented, and the field of teaching is Information and Communication Technology. The duties include, in particular, the planning, development, and implementation of basic level teaching in advanced data management technologies (including cloud-based solutions, SQL, NoSQL, and AI-based approaches), as well as agile and continuous data development processes. The University Lecturer will also contribute to the evaluation and development of data engineering education and continuous learning.

The School of Computing provides teaching in Finnish and English. The University Lecturer is required to have a good command of English for teaching, as well as an adequate level of Finnish for student supervision and the ability, when necessary, to assess study attainments completed in Finnish.

The positions will be filled from 1 September 2026 onwards (or as agreed) until further notice. A trial period is applied to all new members of staff.
